One of the group’s organisers Cath DeMamiel says apart from a bee-sting, car issues and some unpleasant wind says the ride has gone off without a hitch.
The Adelaide to Coleambally ride sees the group raise money for Bernie Star, who was recently diagnosed with cancer.
Mr O’Connell is joined by Tom Groves and Mitch Carroll for the entire length of the journey, with friends and family joining them for different legs of the journey. The boys will ride 830 kilometres across six days, averaging around 140 kilometres per day.
Mrs DeMamiel says the boys are holding up well.
“They’re tired, but they’re doing well. Everything is running smoothly and we’re making good time,” she said.
”We had a lot of sponsors come on board, support from the community has been great as well. We’ve also been getting a lot of support through the Facebook page, which has been great.”
The event will conclude on Saturday when the group rides into Coleambally. They are encouraging residents and local cyclists from around the area to join them for the final leg of the trip.
