The news comes after allegations made in metropolitan media outlets that allege Detective Superintendent Michael Rowan gave two female employees preferential treatment.
A spokesperson for NSW Police confirmed the complaint refused further comment.
“NSW Police can confirm the Professional Standards Command is currently examining a complaint matter,” they said.
“While that process remains underway it is inappropriate to make any further specific comment.”
Last weeks claims emerged that Commander Rowan had moved a long-term civilian police employee into a home traditionally reserved for front line police officers.

It is understood she has been living in the home for around three years.
Another claim involves the promotion of a female senior constable within the command. News Corp Australia has alleged the complaint was made after a review by a senior officer, raised about a score the female constable received on an assessment.
A NSW Police confirmed all complaints are investigated in depth.
