The Mallee Men have surged up the standing to be sitting in the first position on points difference after the first six rounds and showed they would be a force as the season rolls on after defeating Waratahs last weekend.

Co-coach Jake Goodwin was pleased to see his side bounce back quickly after a loss two weeks ago to Leeton.

"It has been a really good start to the season with the exception of the disappointing loss to Leeton," he said.

"It was good to bounce back from the quickly and pick up a good win over Waratahs last weekend.

"It was a good match to see where we were at against one of the form team of the competition."

The Mallee Men are facing challenges with players, but Goodwin has full confidence in whoever takes the field in Coleambally on Sunday.

"We were missing a substantial number of players last weekend, and we lost more after the game against the Waratahs," he said.

"We will be down a bit on numbers, so we will be seeing where everyone is at heading into the weekend.

"I'm not too worried about the amount of injuries we have, and I still have confidence that the team we put out on the park will get the job done."

This weekend will see Goodwin face off against someone who he is familiar with from his time in Group Nine in Ben Jeffrey and after his first five games in the competition, Goodwin can see the differences between the two competitions.

"It is probably more physical but not quite as technical in Group 20," he said.

"It has been good so far, and I'm enjoying it."

WIth the more physical nature of Group 20, Goodwin has put the early success of his side to the hard work of the forwards to get his side into the right areas.

It will be another tough game for the Mallee Men when they take on the Roosters who have enjoyed an equally strong start to the season.

The DPC side is in the four-way tie for top spot and has already eclipsed their points total from last season after starting the season with four wins and a loss.

The only blemish on their record came from a 28-22 loss at the hands of Yanco-Wamoon, but since that game, they have gone on a four-game unbeaten run.

The two sides will fight it out to remain in the group at the top of the table when the game kicks off at Coleambally Sportsground at 3pm on Sunday afternoon.

The action will get underway with the under 18s getting underway at 11.15am.
