Beverly and Rhonda told of their impression of the annual state CWA conference in Albury last month.
A couple of noble and interesting guest speakers were the prime minister and new state president Stephanie Stanhope. They also mentioned the new faces among the crowd, which was a younger group as CWA ladies, turning around the myth that it is only for old people.
Sally Pete did up a lovely display for the International Group meeting last month and Coleambally-Argoon CWA ladies were so impressed on all her artefacts that she brought along.
The group is studying Papua New Guinea and her collection gave an insight into the country.
On Friday, Coleambally-Argoon CWA had a section on favourite articles of embroidery. Margaret brought a piece that she done as a young lady.
Her comment was "we did anything to keep ourselves busy and help make the time go quicker".
Another piece was from Julie, who spun the wool from her first pet sheep and knitted a cardigan as the wool never wears out.
Occasionally she has pulled it apart and knitted a jumper in another pattern - she has done this five times over the years and still it looks great .
Members also had doll clothes, dollies and a piece made from a member who sadly passed away, which now is a treasured item.
Coleambally-Argoon CWA has these sections every month with a different agenda - it's great as you never know what interesting things members will bring in or the stories they tell.
As the year is ending, CWA of NSW has put out its yearly grants that are available for young people in the community.
They are for students of all ages going to primary school to high school, assisting secondary or tertiary students.
They are all for a cross section of studies be it the arts, fashion designs, medical and those who are working with disabilities and other studies.
There is something for most, and you don't have to be a member on most to apply.
It would be great to have these grants go to people in our area.
If you are interested, phone Gail on 0427 667 553 for further information.
On this note, CWA of NSW has also got a lot of drought relief programs out there.
If you need help or know of someone, let Coleambally-Argoon CWA know and members will point you in the right direction.
These grants and drought relief programs are affiliated by CWA of NSW.
As members, Coleambally-Argoon CWA are here to help.
Come and join our group, enjoy our company and have fun.
The branch meets every second Friday at 1.30pm at the Youth Hall
