It was an especially sweet victory for the Tigers, as it launched them into minor premiership for the first time in the team's history.

Tigers coach Kose Lelei said he was "feeling pretty damn good" after seeing such a strong performance from his team.

"It was a great effort from all the boys; everyone did their job today," Lelei said.

"It was a team effort."

It was touch-and-go for much of the game, with the Roosters piling on the pressure towards the second half of the match.

The two teams were caught in an 18-18 deadlock for much of the second half, with the Tigers being put on the back foot in the face of the Roosters' offensive push.

"We were defending the try line for almost 20 minutes," Lelei said.

"The boys defended really well, especially from the middle."

The Tigers kept up their unbreakable defense, and towards the end of the match they managed to swing the momentum in the other direction.

After exercising a great deal of patience the Tigers managed to reverse the flow of the game and push back against the Roosters front line.

Some quick-thinking allowed the Tigers to take the lead later into the game, and then with mere minutes left on the clock the Tigers secured the lead on the back of some clinical plays.

When the clock struck zero the Tigers had managed to finish on a relatively comfortable lead, 28 to 18.

Lelei said he was buoyed by the team's performance on Saturday, and will be heading towards the rest of the season with some optimism.

The Tigers will be hoping to get some key players back onto the field in time for some crucial matches ahead.

Yanco- Wamoon Hawks will prove a formidable foe, with their most recent win putting them at number two on the ladder with 28 points.

The Tigers are currently sitting on 30 points, with 13 wins under their belt. The Roosters are putting on a strong showing, coming fourth on the ladder with 24 points.
