Coleambally defeat Coro Cougars in GDCA second grade's McGann Family Shield final

The Cougars won the toss and looked to make a strong start with Matt Signor and Yash More at the top of the order.

The pair were able to put on 14 runs in the first two overs before More (7) fell to the bowling of Sanil Chilukuri (1/11) while Sam Breed picked up the wicket of the dangerous Justin Moat (0) in the next over.

Signor tried to keep the score ticking over however two quick wickets to Breed (3/17) swung the game further into the Nomads favour as Angus Kennedy (2) and Signor (17) departed in quick succession while Shane Hutchinson (2) fell to the bowling of Jack Weymouth-Smith to see Coro fall to 5/31 after 8.3 overs.

Weymouth-Smith (3/12) would prove to be a thorn in the side of the Cougars as he picked up the wickets of Nick Witherspoon (1) and Andrew McIntyre (0) to find himself on a hat-trick however Dion Pascoe was able to see off the danger.

Adam Badham and Pascoe would put on eight runs before Badham (10), and John Witherspoon (1) fell to the bowling of Coleambally captain Shaun Iddles.

Some late hitting from Pascoe (16*) saw the Cougars eventually bowled out for 75 in the 20th over when Iddles (3/13) picked up the wicket of Dean Robertson (3).

The Cougars were able to make a strong start with the ball with Pascoe (2/11) striking in the fourth over to remove James Lyell (7) and Cooper Smith (0).

Weymouth-Smith and Blake McDonald were able to get their side back on track with a 26-run stand before Nick Witherspoon removed the dangerous Weymouth-Smith (19) while John Witherspoon trapped McDonald (8) in front.

Once again the two quick wickets didn't slow the progress from the Nomads substantially as Neil Burke and Sam Breed were able to get their side to within touching distance of victory.

With eight runs needed for victory, Nick (2/13) and John Witherspoon (2/27) took another two quick wickets before Chilukuri (4*) and Avinash Gurram (2*) guided their side to a four-wicket win with 3.5 overs remaining.
